Speedgoat by UTMB overview
Speedgoat is a multi-distance mountain running event hosted at Snowbird in Little Cottonwood Canyon in the Wasatch Mountains. The event takes place across a race weekend and uses resort infrastructure so lodging, dining, parking, spectating, and post-race recovery are close to the start and finish areas.
The courses run in high-alpine terrain with ridgelines, wildflowers, and expansive Wasatch views. Races feature substantial elevation gain and technical trail sections; organizers provide course marking and volunteer support. The event includes a women-focused initiative called The Start Line Project that aims to reduce barriers to participation.
Distances and elevation gain include:
- 50 KM - 3450 m+ elevation gain
- 31 KM - 2000 m+ elevation gain
- 10 KM - 500 m+ elevation gain
- 5.6 KM (The Summit) - 921 m+ elevation gain
The event participates in UTMB Community Bibs, a fundraising effort managed in partnership with the IRONMAN Foundation. UTMB Community Bibs direct a portion of registration proceeds to local charities and trail stewardship programs; historically, IRONMAN and the IRONMAN Foundation have provided over $60 million in charitable giveback funds since 2003.
