Event overview
The Southern Freeze takes place in Columbus, GA on January 24, 2026. The course runs along the Columbus, GA and Phenix City, AL Riverwalks and passes landmarks such as the world’s longest urban whitewater course, Columbus State University, The National Infantry Museum, and Golden Park. Both the Freeze and the Fried races start and finish at Scofflaw Brewing in Columbus, GA.

The event offers combo options that pair the January and August races: a 50k combo made from two 25k races, a 100k combo made from two 50k races, and a 100-mile combo made from two 50-mile races. Cutoffs are 10 hours for the 25k and 50k, and 14 hours for the 50-mile race. Aid stations will include foods such as chicken and dumplings, sweet tea, grilled cheese, and cookies, and hydration options including Coke, water, and CeraSport. Every participant receives a T-shirt and a beanie; all finishers receive a medal. The overall first-place finisher in each event receives a special award.
