South Bay 24
South Bay 24 is an annual endurance event held at Montgomery Waller Community Park in San Diego. The 2027 edition is the sixth running and registration for 2027 opens on September 7, 2026. The event uses a short loop course that runs counter clockwise around the park.
The course is a 1.22 mile loop with a mix of surfaces: roughly 50% trail, 25% grass, and 25% bike path. Elevation gain is about 56 feet per loop; completing 82 loops equals 100 miles. The HEFFTY Half Marathon option is 13 laps (about 15.86 miles).
Race options include 24 hour, 12 hour night, 12 hour day, 6 hour day, the HEFFTY Half Marathon, and a South Bay Social. The South Bay Social is a relaxed, limited field event for up to 50 runners; it does not include awards but participants receive a finisher medal. All runners receive finisher medals and 100 mile finishers earn a belt buckle. A runner campsite area is provided adjacent to the course, and a pancake breakfast is offered for participants.
Oncourse aid is provided throughout the event with water, electrolyte drinks, and a variety of snacks such as bagels, donuts, peanut butter sandwiches, potatoes, pretzels, trail mix, cookies, popsicles, sodas, and lemonade and iced tea provided by Raising Canes. Pacers are permitted with limits: only one pacer may be on the course at a time, pacers must register and wear a pacer bib. The event is sanctioned by USATF San Diego and features a purse prize. The course record for the event is 103 laps, 125 miles (2026). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
