Event Details
Solstice at the Lakes is a timed trail running event taking place around the summer solstice on June 20-21, 2026, at Leybourne Lakes Country Park in Kent. Participants run as many laps as possible within their chosen time frame on a 2.5 km loop course.
Race Formats
There are several timed race options:
- 24-hour race: Solo, Pair Relay (2 people), or Team Relay (max 4 people).
- 12-hour race: Solo only.
- 6-hour race: Solo only, with one option on Saturday and another on Sunday.
The final result for each runner or team is the total number of full laps completed before their race time ends. A medal is awarded to all runners who complete at least one lap.
The Course & Facilities
The course is a flat, fully marked loop around Leybourne Lakes Country Park on a mix of trail, gravel, and tarmac paths. A central race village provides food and drink for runners, toilets, changing areas, and rest zones with tables and chairs. Paid car parking is available on-site, and spectators are welcome.
Support & Rules
The event provides official race timing with live lap updates and has a medical team on site throughout. Podium awards are given for the top three Open and Female solo races and team races. Key rules include a minimum age of 20, a cupless policy requiring a reusable cup, and a requirement for runners participating overnight to have a headtorch. Support from a crew is only permitted in the designated support area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
