Solstice at the Lakes
Solstice at the Lakes is a timed trail running event held at Leybourne Lakes Country Park in Kent. The race takes place on a 2.5 km fully marked loop that consists of a flat and scenic route. The path features a mix of maintained trail, gravel, and tarmac surfaces. Participants aim to complete as many full laps as possible within their chosen time limit.
The event offers several individual and relay formats:
- 24-hour race (Solo, Pair Relay, or Team Relay with up to 4 people)
- 12-hour race (Solo)
- 6-hour race (Solo options available on both Saturday and Sunday)
The race village serves as a central hub for the event, providing toilets, changing areas, and rest zones. Tables and chairs are available for both runners and support crews. Food and drink are provided for participants at designated intervals throughout the day and night.
For safety and timing, the event includes official race timing with live lap updates and an on-site medical team. Minimum age for entry is 20 years. This is a cupless event, meaning runners must bring their own reusable cups. Participants running through the night are required to use a headtorch. All runners who complete at least one lap receive a medal, and podium awards are presented to the top three finishers in various categories.
Paid car parking is available at the park, and the site is a 15-minute walk from New Hythe railway station. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
