SoCalUltraTrail at Tejon Ranch
SoCalTrail organizes a multi-distance trail running event at Tejon Ranch in Lebec, California. The event offers four distances:
- 100k Ultra Trail (61.6 miles, 12,002 feet gain)
- 50k Ultra Trail (32.3 miles, 5,651 feet gain)
- 25k Trail (15.86 miles, 2,858 feet gain)
- 11k Trail (6.96 miles, 944 feet gain)
All courses run entirely on Tejon Ranch private lands and use fire roads. Runners pass canyons, creeks, mountains, sagebrush plains and varied biomes that include oak woodlands, seasonal wildflower displays and distant Joshua Trees. Wildlife on course may include elk, mule deer, turkey, wild boar, bear, bobcat, coyote and raptors. The 50k and 100k routes include the Grapevine switchbacks, with a 3,200 foot climb in about 4.8 miles; the 100k reaches approximately 6,150 feet in elevation. The 100k carries an 18 hour time limit and the 50k a 15.5 hour time limit.
Race operations include fully marked day and night course routes, chip timing with same-day results, live GPS tracking and professionally staffed aid stations. Medical support and communications are provided at aid stations. On-site options described for participants and supporters include overnight camping, limited hotel rooms at an event rate, crew and spectator access at a designated aid station, pacer bibs for specific climbs, a finish festival with hot meals and a beer garden for those 21 and older. Finishers receive event buckles or medals, and overall winners earn comp entries and prize purse opportunities. Volunteer roles earn transferable race credits and event perks.
