About the race
Snow Joke Half Marathon is a winter road-and-trail half marathon held in Seeley Lake, Montana, on February 27, 2027. The event marks the 48th edition and covers 13.1 miles.
Registration opens August 5, 2026, and the race is capped at 750 participants. Published entry fees vary by registration window. Entry fees are non-refundable, non-transferable and non-deferrable. RWM members receive a small discount. Bib pickup is offered the day before at Run Wild Missoula headquarters and on race morning at Seeley Lake Elementary School.
The event is cupless; runners are expected to use personal hydration devices or the aid stations. The course is open to strollers and to dogs on non-retractable leashes; participants who run with dogs are asked to clean up after them. Aid stations provide water and dog treats. A posted cutoff applies to the highway portion of the course as a safety precaution.
All participants receive chip timing, a custom bib, and a Snow Joke finisher medal. Participants 21 and over receive one complimentary beer post-race and pancakes are provided after the finish. An optional long sleeve race shirt is available for an additional fee.
Cash awards are offered for the top three overall in male, female, and nonbinary divisions, and a pet prize is awarded to the first finisher in the canine division. Beneficiaries include Seeley Lake Elementary School. Run Wild Missoula reported donations in 2026 to local school and community programs.
