About the race
The Snow Joke Half Marathon is a winter road and trail event held in Seeley Lake, Montana. The 2027 edition is the 48th running and the course measures 13.1 miles. The event is capped at 750 participants and registration opens August 5, 2026 with tiered entry fees through February.
The event starts and finishes at Seeley Lake Elementary School. Parking is available on local streets around the school. Bib pickup is available the day before at Run Wild Missoula headquarters and on race morning at the school. Entry fees are non-refundable, non-transferable, and non-deferrable as described in the race waiver and policies.
This is a cupless event; participants may use and refill personal hydration devices at aid stations. The course is open to strollers and to dogs on non-retractable leashes; water and treats for dogs will be provided at aid stations. A highway portion of the course has a mandatory cutoff time for safety.
All finishers receive chip timing, a custom bib, and a Snow Joke finisher medal. Participants aged 21 and over receive one complimentary beer after the race and pancakes are provided post race. Optional long sleeve shirts are available as an add-on. Cash awards are offered for top overall finishers in male, female, and nonbinary divisions, and a pet package is awarded to the first canine finisher.
