Event overview
The Snow Joke Half Marathon is a winter road and trail half marathon of 13.1 miles held in Seeley Lake, Montana. The 2026 edition is listed as the 47th running of the event. The field is capped at 750 participants. Registration is tiered by date with increasing fees; Run Wild Missoula members receive a $3 discount. The race supports Seeley Lake Elementary School and has previously enabled donations to local school and community programs.
Course and logistics
The event is a cupless race; participants may use personal hydration devices and refill them at aid stations. The course is open to dogs and strollers; all dogs must be on a non-retractable leash and owners are asked to clean up after their animals. Race packets are distributed in advance at the Run Wild Missoula headquarters and on site at Seeley Lake Elementary School. Parking is on local streets surrounding the school.
Awards, swag and other notes
All participants receive chip timing, a custom bib and a finisher medal. Participants 21 and older are eligible for one complimentary beer after the race; post-race food includes Krispy Kreme donuts and bacon. Cash awards are offered to the top three overall finishers in male, female and nonbinary categories. A pet prize is awarded to the first finisher in the canine division.
