Snow Joke Half Marathon
The Snow Joke Half Marathon is an annual winter road and trail half marathon held in Seeley Lake, Montana. The 2027 event is presented as the 48th edition and is limited to 750 participants. The race starts and finishes at Seeley Lake Elementary School, with parking on nearby local streets.
The event is dog friendly and stroller friendly. All dogs must be kept on a non-retractable leash and participants are asked to clean up after them. Aid stations allow runners to refill personal hydration devices and will provide water and treats for dogs. This is a cupless event.
Race services include chip timing, a custom bib, and a Snow Joke finisher medal. Participants aged 21 and over receive one post-race beer. An optional long sleeve shirt is available for an additional fee. Post-race food includes pancakes.
Prize money is awarded to the top three overall finishers in male, female, and nonbinary divisions with amounts of $300, $150, and $75 respectively. A pet prize is given to the first finisher in the canine division.
Registration opens on August 5, 2026 with tiered entry fees ranging from $35 to $55 and a $3 discount for Run Wild Missoula members. The race makes charitable contributions and has listed Seeley Lake Elementary School among its beneficiaries. A shuttle bus from downtown Missoula is offered as an option.
