WMPCS 5K at Smoke on the Water
This event features two 5K options run along the Washington waterfront in Washington, North Carolina (119 E. Water St.). One option is a timed 5K run. The second option is a recreational, untimed 5K that is not listed in race results and is not eligible for awards.
The event benefits Washington Montessori Public Charter School and specifically supports school field trips. T-shirts are included with regular registration; shirts are available on a first-come, first-served basis for late and day-of registrants. Regular registration fee is $25; late and day-of registration fee is $30.
Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers and to the top male and female in these age groups: 12 and under, 13–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70 and over.
The organizing school states its mission to inspire academic excellence and to nurture curiosity, creativity, and imagination within a caring environment. The event combines an organized running option with a recreational option while directing proceeds to school programs related to student leadership and learning experiences.
