Slane Castle 5km Trail Run/Walk
The Slane Castle 5km Trail Run/Walk is a community fundraiser held in the grounds of Slane Castle on Sunday, May 24th. The event is in its 11th year and raises money for the Slane National School Parents’ Association to support outdoor learning spaces.
The route is a 5 km trail that passes through the castle estate and includes a forest trail along the River Boyne. The organisers describe the route as suitable for walkers, joggers, runners and buggy pushers.
The event is organised by the Parents’ Association of St. Patrick's National School with support from Meath Local Sports Partnership, Slane Castle and the Civil Defence. On the day there are t shirts for the first 200 adults and the first 200 under 16s, and finishing medals for the first 400 participants to cross the line. After-race refreshments and home-baked goods are provided free of charge to those who support the event.
Parking is available on the castle grounds. Pets are not permitted in the grounds of Slane Castle. Early bird online registration prices are listed as €20 for adults, €10 for secondary school aged children and €5 for primary school aged children.
