Event overview
The Sinks Canyon Trail Races take place in Sinks Canyon, the corridor to Wyoming’s Wind River Mountains near Lander, WY. The event on June 13, 2026 includes trail races over varied mountain terrain with scenery such as wildflower meadows, snow- and ice-covered peaks, deep canyons, river corridors, and forest singletrack. The races are hosted by the Lander Running Club and use Bruce’s parking area and Sinks Canyon Campground as key course points.

The 50 km is described as a mountain course with steep climbs, technical descents, ridge traverses, river sections, and route features including Fairfield ridge and saddle, Sheep Creek, Middle Fork Trail, Sheep’s Bridge, Worthen Meadows Reservoir, Fossil Hill, Brewer’s Trail, and Aspen Grade Trail. The 18 km includes sustained climbing, meadows, new singletrack to Fossil Hill Aid Station, and semi-technical singletrack back to the river. The 6 km follows the Middle Fork of the Popo Agie River with a climb on Aspen Grade and a descent on Brewer’s trail; it is presented as a noncompetitive fun run with finisher awards only. The Kids 1 km follows the river, is open to ages 1–12, offers finisher awards and a custom cup, and accepts free onsite or day-of registration up to a 50-participant capacity; one adult may accompany a child on course if needed.
Registration opens in October and closes on the Tuesday of race week. Rollover credit is available for cancellations made at least 30 days before the race. Volunteer roles and expectations are provided; volunteers receive a t-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
