Sinks Canyon Trail Races - Lander, WY
The Sinks Canyon Trail Races take place in Sinks Canyon, the corridor to the Wind River Mountains. The courses run along river corridors, ridgelines, meadows of wildflowers, and single-track trails with technical sections and panoramic mountain views. The event is hosted by the Lander Running Club, a community-based organization.
- 50K: mountain course through Fairfield ridge, Middle Fork, and Fossil Hill.
- 18K: out-and-back loop via Aspen Grade, Brewer's Trail, and Fossil Hill.
- 6K: noncompetitive fun run along river, Aspen Grade, and single track.
- Kids' 1K: free, ages 1-12, finisher cup and treat; adult accompaniment allowed.
The 50K follows a mountain route starting and finishing at Bruce’s Parking Area, using Sinks Canyon/River Trail, Fairfield ridge and saddle, Timbertop Mountain, Middle Fork Trail, Sheep’s Bridge, and Worthen Meadows Reservoir before returning via Fossil Hill and Brewer’s Trail. The 18K climbs Aspen Grade to Brewer’s Trail, passes the Fossil Hill aid station, traverses Fossil Hill, and descends back to the river. The 6K follows similar canyon and single-track sections and is organized as a noncompetitive run with finisher awards rather than place awards.
Registration opens the first Sunday in October. Rollover credits are available for prior cancellations but must be applied by re-registering before capacity is reached. Volunteers receive a t-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
