The Sinks Canyon Trail Races take place in Sinks Canyon, in the Shoshone National Forest near Lander, Wyoming. The event is hosted by the Lander Running Club. It features several trail running distances: a 50K, an 18K, a 6K, and a Kids' 1K.
Course Information
The courses start and finish at Bruce’s Parking Area in Sinks Canyon. Trails pass through varied scenery including canyons, wildflower meadows, and offer views of the Wind River Mountains.
The 50K is described as a mountain run. The route uses trails like the Sinks Canyon/River Trail, Climber’s trails, Fairfield ridge, Sheep Creek, Timbertop Mountain, Fairfield Hill, Middle Fork Trail, and the Brewer’s Trail. It passes aid stations and features technical and rocky sections.
The 18K follows the Popo Agie River, then climbs on the Aspen Grade and Brewer's trails. It passes the Fossil Hill Aid Station before a descent on semi-technical single track back to the finish.
The 6K is a non-competitive fun run. It follows the Popo Agie River, climbs on the Aspen Grade trail, and descends on the Brewer's trail back to the finish. All participants receive a finisher award.
The Kids' 1K is a free event for ages 1-12. Registration opens the Thursday before the race. Finishers receive a custom cup and a treat.
