Shannon Trail Series
The Shannon Trail Series is a three-race trail running series organized by the San Angelo Road Lizards. The races take place at three different locations in San Angelo, Texas.
Event Details
The series consists of three separate events:
- Race 1: Takes place on January 17, 2026 at Middle Concho Park. Distances are 5K and 10K.
- Race 2: Takes place on January 31, 2026 at Twin Buttes Boat Ramp. Distances are 5K and 12K.
- Race 3: Takes place on February 21, 2026 at San Angelo State Park, Chaparral Pavilion. Distances are 5K and 15K.
Registration for the event covers all three races. Participants can choose between short course (5K) and long course options at each event.
Awards & Scoring
All races are chip-timed, but awards are based on gun time. Every finisher receives a finisher medal at the finish line on race day. Overall awards for the top three male and female finishers are given at each individual race for both distances.
Series scoring is separate for short and long courses. Points are awarded based on finishing position in each race (1000 for 1st, 999 for 2nd, etc.) and accumulated across all three events. The runner with the most total points wins the series. Age group awards for the series are awarded only after the third race, and participants must finish all three races to be eligible. A tie for series points is broken by the finish time in the third race.
Packet pickup is available the evening before races at SoCo Taphouse, or on race morning. Pets and strollers are not permitted on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
