About the race
The Shakespeare Marathon & Half Marathon takes place in Stratford-upon-Avon on 25 April 2027. The event offers two distance options:
- Marathon - full marathon distance; two laps, second loop via Long Marston.
- Half Marathon - one lap of the same course finishing in the Recreation Ground.
The course is predominantly road closed and is described as friendly for personal best attempts. It starts in the town centre, passes the racecourse, and runs through Luddington and Welford-on-Avon. Runners then join the Stratford Greenway, a hard compact footpath that provides smooth, consistent running back into Stratford-upon-Avon.
Entry includes a unique themed medal, chip timed results, free official event photographs, and post-race refreshments and goodies. Each kilometre is marked with distance flags and marshals are positioned to guide and cheer participants. An event village offers food and drink options and free partner giveaways at the finish.
Ticketing is offered in stages with Super Early Bird, Early Bird, and Standard entry phases that end on the dates listed by the organiser. The organiser notes sustainability as a growing focus and also offers an optional event t-shirt at a reduced price through a kit partner.
