Seven Sisters Skyline

The Seven Sisters Skyline is a mountain running event set in the Derryveagh Mountains in County Donegal, Ireland. It is described as the largest event of its kind in Ireland, with a capacity of 500 runners. The route follows the spine of the Seven Sisters mountain range from Errigal to Muckish.

The event offers three race distances:

  • Skyline 55k: A 55 km route with over 4,000 meters of ascent, summiting six peaks.
  • Sky Challenge 30k: A 30 km point-to-point route traversing the skyline.
  • Altan Castle 16k: A 16 km route described as an introduction to skyline running.

The terrain includes technical trails, ridges, rocky summits, and steep climbs. The 55k and 30k races are UTMB Index races, offering points for UTMB World Series qualification. The event is part of the Skyrunning UK & Ireland Series and has previously featured in the World Mountain Running World Cup.

A combined prize purse of €10,000 is offered for the 55k and 30k events, with cash prizes for the top five male and female finishers in each. The 55k event also hosts the National Series Skyrunning Championships with a €7,500 prize pool.

Entry fees are listed as €150 for the 55k, €140 for the 30k, and €85 for the 16k. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
