Event

The Serengeti Trail Races take place in Erda, Utah, on the Serengeti/Oquirrh Wave trail system in Tooele County near the Oquirrh Mountains. The event offers three distances:

  • 50K
  • 25K
  • 6.45 miles

The event is USATF sanctioned. There is a hard cutoff of 2 hours for one of the shorter distances. Aid stations will be adequately stocked. The top three men and top three women in each distance will receive modest awards.

Courses and logistics

The 50K and 25K courses are not finalized. The 50K will likely consist of two 25K loops. The 25K will use the first loop of the 50K course. Both the 50K and 25K will include a mix of dirt road/ATV trail, double-track, and single-track, with expected total ascent of about 4,000–4,500 ft for the 50K and 2,000–2,200 ft for the 25K.

The ~6.45-mile course climbs Puke Ravine, follows the Pole Canyon double-track, descends the wooded Pole Canyon trail and the BBC trail, and returns to the start/finish area. That course lists total vertical gain of 1,250 ft and a surface mix of 45% dirt road/ATV trail, 38% single-track, and 17% double-track.
