Serengeti Trail Races, May 1, 2027
The Serengeti Trail Races take place in Erda, UT on May 1, 2027 and are organized by Tooele Trail Racing. The event uses the Serengeti / Oquirrh Wave trail system in Tooele County at the base of the Oquirrh Mountains and departs from the Bates Canyon trail area.
Courses mix technical ATV tracks and single-track, offering views of the Tooele Valley, the Great Salt Lake, Stansbury Mountain Range, and Stansbury Island. The 50-mile course includes a repeated summit of Barney's Peak at 8,245 ft and totals approximately 12,000 ft of elevation gain. Aid stations are described as adequately stocked.
Distances offered include:
- 50 Mile course, approx 12,000 ft total ascent, includes Barney's Peak twice
- 50K course, two 25k loops, first counterclockwise then clockwise
- 25K course, shares first counterclockwise loop with 50K
- 10K course, same route used in 2023
Organizers state they do not provide entry bags, do not hand out finisher's awards in large ceremonies, and do not use a PA system or finish line arches. The event is USATF sanctioned. Registration opens October 9, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
