Serengeti Trail Races - Erda, UT

The event is a trail racing weekend in the Serengeti/Oquirrh Wave trail system on the foothills of the Oquirrh Mountains in Tooele County, Utah. Courses run on a mix of dirt roads, ATV trails, single-track and primitive trails with views of the Tooele Valley, the Great Salt Lake, the Oquirrh Arch, and the Stansbury Mountain Range.

  • 15.55 miles (25K)
  • 6.45 miles (10K)

The 50-mile course is two clockwise loops (total 51 miles) with 7,500 ft of elevation gain. Surface composition is roughly 73% dirt road/ATV trail, 9% single-track, 6% double-track and 12% primitive trail. Aid stations are at BBC (mile 8.6), Big Canyon (mile 14.9 and 36.1), Lake Point (mile 21.5 and 29.5) and the Start/Finish Area (mile 25.5). Cutoffs are given as elapsed times at midpoint and finish.

The 50K is two 25K loops run in opposite directions for a total of 31.1 miles and about 4,500 ft of elevation gain. Surface mix is about 69% dirt road/ATV, 25% single-track and 6% double-track. Aid stations include BBC and the Start/Finish Area. The 25K uses the first 25K loop (15.55 miles, 2,250 ft). The 10K follows Puke Ravine and Pole Canyon routes (6.45 miles, 1,250 ft).

The event is USATF sanctioned, keeps a low-key organization style, stocks aid stations for competitors, and awards modest prizes to the top three men and women in each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
