Event
The Selma to Montgomery 51 Mile Relay is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2026. The event follows a point-to-point route that begins in Selma, Alabama and finishes at the state capitol in Montgomery, Alabama, covering 51 miles. It is organized by the Civil Rights Race Series as a race and bike ride to commemorate the 1965 civil rights march. Multiple participation options are offered, including relay teams, a solo runner category, an in-person bike ride, a bike ride with transportation to the start, and virtual run and virtual bike ride options. A 12 hour completion time for the relay and bike ride will be strictly enforced. An awards ceremony will be held at the Montgomery State Capitol on the day of the event.
Registration and logistics
Registration opens and closes in defined windows: regular registration runs from May 19, 2025 through October 15, 2025, and a late registration period runs from October 16, 2025 through February 22, 2026. Entry fees vary by category; late-period fees shown in the event information include $150 for runners and cyclists, $185 for cyclists with transport, and $70 for virtual entries. Team registration must be created and paid for by a designated team captain before team members can join. Packet pickup and a pre-race Meet, Greet, and Eat are scheduled in Montgomery the day before the event. RaceJoy will be available for live GPS tracking and progress alerts; participants must carry a phone and activate tracking to use that service.
