Event overview
The Selma to Montgomery 51 Mile Relay is a running and cycling event on March 21, 2026, that follows a point-to-point course from Selma, Alabama to the Alabama State Capitol in Montgomery. The full course distance is 51 miles. The event includes relay teams, a solo runner option, an in-person bike ride (with and without transportation to the start), and virtual run and virtual bike ride options. In-person events are open to ages 13 and older. A 12-hour completion time for the course is strictly enforced.
Registration and logistics
Team captains must create and pay for relay teams before members can join. Regular registration runs from May 19, 2025 through October 15, 2025; late registration closes February 22, 2026. Standard registration fees listed are $125 for runners and cyclists, $160 for cyclists with transportation, and $60 for virtual participants; late fees are higher. Package pickup for relay teams and cyclists is scheduled for March 20, 2026 at the Montgomery Multiplex at Cramton Bowl. A meet-and-greet dinner is offered the evening before the event for a fee, and an awards ceremony is planned at the Montgomery State Capitol on race day.
