Selma to Montgomery 51 Mile Relay
The Selma to Montgomery 51 Mile Relay is scheduled for March 21, 2026. Organized as part of the Civil Rights Race Series, the event stages a relay race and a bike ride covering 51 miles along a course that begins in Selma, Alabama and finishes at the Montgomery State Capitol. The event commemorates the 1965 march led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The program includes multiple entry options: team relays, a 51 mile bike ride, a bike ride option that provides transport of cyclist and bicycle to the start, a waiting list for transport, a solo runner entry, and virtual run and virtual bike ride options. In-person events are open to ages 13 and older. Team registration requires a designated team captain to create and pay for the team before members can join.
A 12 hour completion time for the course is strictly enforced. Packet pickup for relay teams and cyclists is scheduled the day before the event at the Montgomery Multiplex at Cramton Bowl; the same venue hosts an optional meet and greet event. An awards ceremony is planned at the Montgomery State Capitol once top finishers are determined. RaceJoy mobile tracking will be available for live GPS progress updates and cheers. Registration closes February 22, 2026 and virtual time submission has a later deadline in April 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
