Course and logistics
The route traverses Sedona’s red rock canyons, the Coconino National Forest, and a section of the Arizona Trail near Fisher Point. It links the towns of Jerome, Clarkdale, Cottonwood, Sedona, and Flagstaff and finishes at Heritage Square in Flagstaff. Course marking uses orange plastic ribbons with black polka dots and wrong-way checkerboard flagging. Aid station support for the 125-mile race includes 10 aid stations and 2 water stations; most aid stations provide water, electrolyte drink, snacks, and hot meals with vegan options.
Crew and pacer rules are specified: crews may access runners only at designated crew-access aid stations; pacers are allowed starting at mile 55 (Munds Park), must accompany runners on foot, and must sign a pacer waiver and wear a pacer bib. Carrying a GPS-enabled device with the course file downloaded is mandatory. The race is cupless, so participants are responsible for their own drink containers.
