Scotland Coast to Coast
Scotland Coast to Coast is a 100 mile multisport challenge across the Scottish Highlands combining trail running, cycling and a short kayak stage. The route passes notable locations including Cawdor Castle, Loch Ness, Glen Coe and Glen Nevis and finishes with a one mile kayak.
Participants can choose to complete the route in one day or split it across two days. The published stage distances are:
- 21 miles on foot (34 km)
- 78 miles on bike (125 km)
- 1 mile kayak (1.6 km)
The course is fully waymarked with bright orange arrows and supported by private mountain safety staff at key locations. Organisers provide bag movements within the event, moving a bag from the start to the finish of each day, plus bookable bus transfers and optional bike hire subject to availability. Kayaks are provided as stable sit on tops and water safety is managed by local professionals; kayaking is generally done in pairs though solo paddling is possible for lead participants.
Medical cover is delivered by a professional event medic provider with paramedics, doctors and a private ambulance. The event applies cut offs based on sunset for safety; participants who miss cut offs will be transported forward to the finish. Rat Race requires participants to be 18 or older on the day of registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
