About the race
The Schweizer Frauenlauf Bern is an annual women-only mass participation event held in Bern along the Aare. The 41st edition takes place on 13 June 2027 and attracts large numbers of participants and spectators, with up to 15,000 runners and about 30,000 visitors reported.
The event offers several distances and women-only categories with defined age groups:
- 500 m Girls Sprint (2020–2022)
- 1.6 km Girls Meile / Teens Meile / Coop Family Run (various year groups)
- 3 km Easy Walk (adults and girls)
- 5 km Running, Run for Fun, (Nordic) Walking
- 10 km Running, Run for Fun, (Nordic) Walking
Start lists, category rules and age limits are published by the organisers. Entry fees vary by distance and by registration period (early-bird, regular, last minute). Group discounts and special rates exist: school classes receive 25% off, groups of 15 or more receive 10% off. Coop Hello Family cardholders can access a limited discounted offer for the Coop Family Run. People with limited budgets and Canton Bern residency can apply for free entry through a partnership with Winterhilfe Kanton Bern.
For timed running events a broom vehicle (Besenwagen) defines the course end; different target paces apply depending on distance or walking category. Some children’s races are not ranked by time but listed alphabetically. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
