Scenic Rim Ultra : 8 August 2026, Lilybrook Recreation Area, Coulson QLD
The Scenic Rim Ultra is a multi-distance trail running event based at Lilybrook Recreation Area (Western Trail Head), Beaudesert Boonah Rd, Coulson. Distances offered include:
- 10 km
- 25 km
- 42 km
- 65 km
- 105 km
- 162 km (100 miler)
Course details vary by distance. The 162 km course lists 11 checkpoints and about 5,696 m vertical gain; the 105 km course lists 9 checkpoints and about 3,687 m vertical gain; the 65 km course lists 5 aid stations and about 2,430 m vertical gain. Shorter courses report lower vertical change and fewer aid stations. Several courses include road sections that require a high-vis safety vest at night.
Logistics and race services include Friday registration and mandatory briefings for the 162 km, 105 km and 65 km fields, Saturday bib and chip collection options, a paid bus transfer to the Mt Joyce start for 25 km and 42 km runners, and optional drop bags for 162/105/65 entrants. Drop bags must be soft, closable, under 20 L and under 10 kg.
Safety and rules: the course is marked with pink fluro flags and black arrows and uses reflectors for night sections. There is a strict mandatory gear policy (examples: capacity to carry at least 2 L water for longer distances, mobile phone, waterproof bag, course map, headlight and backup, snake bite compression bandage, pea-less whistle, emergency blanket). Option B may be required by weather and adds a thermal top and seam-sealed waterproof jacket. Aid stations provide food and drinks including bananas, watermelon, lollies, chips, Trail Brew, water, ice and soft drinks. A no-cup policy applies at aid stations.
