The Saxons 5 Mile Race
The Saxons 5 Mile Race is a chip timed, multi terrain running event based at Carlton Park Sports Pavilion, Saxmundham, IP17 1AT. The course uses the sports field, footpaths and off road sections and is fully marshalled and signposted. The route leaves the sports field, runs towards Brook Farm Road and Kelsale, then returns to finish on the sports field.
The main event is open to runners aged 15 and over. Entry fees are listed as affiliated £16 and unaffiliated £18. Every finisher receives a race memento. Prizes are awarded to the first three male and first three female finishers, to multiple age categories for men and women, and to first male and female teams based on the first three scorers. Only one prize is awarded per person.
A Junior Fun Run is available with one lap of the sports field (about 1 km) for ages 8 and under and two laps (about 2 km) for ages 9 to 14. Junior entry is £3 with registration and payment handled on the day and medals for all junior finishers.
Race headquarters provide free marshalled car parking, changing facilities and toilets. There is no bag drop. Race numbers include a timing chip on the back of the bib. The use of earphones is prohibited and may lead to disqualification. Results are published on My Race Results. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
