The Saxons 5 Mile Race
The Saxons 5 Mile Race takes place at Carlton Park Sports Pavilion, Carlton Park, Saxmundham IP17 1AT. The event is organised by Saxmundham Running & Fitness Club and is held under race licence 31039. The main event is a chip timed, multi terrain five mile run on playing field, footpaths and off road. The course is fully marshalled and sign posted and runs from the sports field towards Brook Farm Road and Kelsale before looping back to the sports field.
Distances
- 5 mile race for runners aged 15 and over
- Junior Fun Run 1 km for ages 8 and under
- Junior Fun Run 2 km for ages 9 to 14
Affiliated entry is £16 and unaffiliated entry is £18. The junior fun run entry is £3 with registration and payment on the day; medals are provided for all junior finishers. All finishers in the five mile race receive a race memento. Prizes are awarded to the first three male and first three female finishers, to specified age-group winners, and to first male and female teams based on the first three scoring finishers. Only one prize is awarded per person.
Race headquarters offers free marshalled car parking, changing facilities and toilets. There is no bag drop. Race numbers are collected at Race HQ on the day and the timing chip is attached to the back of the race bib. Earphones are prohibited and may lead to disqualification.
