Save The Rhino Run - Staines upon Thames
Saturn Running organises a timed charity running event to raise money and awareness for Save The Rhino. The format is a 7 hour Time Challenge that lets participants choose how far to run, with a minimum official finish distance of 3 km. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules.
The course follows a stretch of the River Thames and is fully signed. Surfaces are mainly well made paths and tarmac with a short grass section; road running shoes are suitable. The regular lap measures 7 km (about 4.37 miles) but may be changed to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. Aid and drinks tables are located at the start/finish of each lap, offering savoury and sweet snacks including vegan options.
Medals are awarded to all finishers who complete at least 3 km. Distance pins are available for half-marathon distance and above, and a themed rhino pin can be purchased for an additional £3; that pin donation is given in full to Save The Rhino and matched by Saturn Running.
Venue facilities include toilets at The Last Hop; there are no separate changing rooms or showers. Parking is available at Bridge Street Car Park in Staines. Final race day instructions and number pick up details are provided to entrants before the event. Headphones are allowed and participants should be considerate of other public path users.
