The Leaping Lion Run
The Leaping Lion Run is a seven hour Time Challenge at The Last Hop beside the River Thames in Staines. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. Entry prices vary by distance, with a members-only discount of £10 and a £2 club discount for UK Athletics affiliated club members.
The course follows a signed riverside loop mainly on well made paths and tarmac with a short grass section. Road shoes are suitable year round. Organisers will provide a 3 km turn point and a 5 km turn point within the lap to meet UK Athletics age rules. Aid and drinks tables are available at the start/finish of each lap with savoury and sweet snacks, including vegan options.
Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed lion medal. Distance pins are awarded for half-marathon and longer distances and are attached to the medal ribbon. All finishers receive a goody bag, with a vegan goody bag available on request.
Venue facilities include toilets at The Last Hop; there are no separate changing rooms or showers. There is parking at Bridge Street Car Park, Staines. Headphones are allowed and runners should be considerate of other public footpath users. Final race instructions and number collection details are issued to participants before the event.
