Event overview
The SARR Great Greenway Marathon Relay is a point-to-point marathon relay held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in San Antonio, TX. Teams consist of 2 to 5 runners covering a total of 26.2 miles. Registration is per person; the listed price is $50 with price increases after January 11, 2026. Open to ages 14 to 99. Shirts are guaranteed only to the first 500 registrants who register prior to January 25. A 7-hour time limit applies to the course.
Course and logistics
The course follows sections of the Howard Peak Greenway System along the Leon and Salado creeks and is point-to-point from Mainland Trailhead to McAllister Dog Park trailhead. There are five relay legs ranging from 4.5 to 6.5 miles. Relay handoff points are Fox Park trailhead, The Rim trailhead, the 1604 trailhead, and Walker Ranch park. Water coolers will be located at each relay spot and at Hardberger Park, Eisenhower Park, and Buddy Calk Park; city water fountains may also be present. Batons are distributed at the start line. Packets must be picked up before race day and one person may pick up for a relay team.
Awards and rules
Awards are given to top teams in multiple age and gender categories, including Junior, Open, Masters (40+), Super Masters (50+), and a Non-Binary category. Teams must carry the team baton while running their leg; the fifth-leg runner must wear the red race bib. Teams using baby strollers or running with pets are not eligible for awards.
