Santa's Spirit Sprint : overview
The Santa's Spirit Sprint is scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2025 in Barnesville, Ohio (440 Watt Avenue, 43713). The event raises money, donations, and gift cards to purchase gifts, clothes, and toys from local children’s Christmas wish lists. Organizers report they fill the wish lists of about 15 to 24 less-fortunate children, covering a boy and a girl from elementary, middle, and high school levels plus siblings and special requests. The event began as a 1-mile race for its first 14 years and now also includes a 5k.

Runners, walkers, and chair athletes may enter one distance or both; a combined entry reduces the fee by $10. All participants receive a bag of treats, a ceramic-fired Christmas ornament, and jingle bells for shoes, with an option to purchase a race shirt. All 5k participants are eligible for one of over 100 hand-crafted Christmas trophies across divisions. One-mile participants are eligible for one of 20 ceramic-pottery trophies or age-group pottery medallions; all milers receive a finishing medal. There are more than 50 door prizes. On-site refreshments listed include hot dogs, Domino's pizza, homemade cookies, and hot cocoa. Participants are invited to walk about 1/4 mile uptown to visit shops and view the Christmas parade after awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
