About the race
5k Santa Dash Lough Boora is a community running event held at Lough Boora Discovery Park and organised by MyRunResults Ltd in partnership with local clubs. The event features a main 5 km race and a 1 km family walk, presented as a seasonal, family-focused occasion.
The 5 km course is described as a fast, flat route with no traffic. The event operates under a chip-timed AAI permit and has offered entry fees in past notices (runners €15, family €25). Prizes are awarded for first, second and third place in the male and female categories. The programme also includes spot prizes, refreshments after the event, and a Santa appearance with treats for children. Entries on the day are limited.
The event has been a regular fundraiser for local charities, with named beneficiaries including Offaly Hospice and related community causes. It is organised locally with involvement from running groups and athletics clubs. Sponsors and supporters named in materials include Midlands 103, Offaly Hospice Foundation Ltd, and GreenCoat Renewables with support from Cloghan Wind Farm Ltd.
