Sandwell Open Water Aquathlon 2026
Sandwell Aquathlon 2026 takes place at Swan Pool, Sandwell Valley on 4 July 2026. The event is based on an open water lake swim followed by a paved run inside the park. Swim-only options and a Scootathon for young children are included alongside the aquathlon races.
Safety measures include safety crew swimmers in the water and rescue craft. Swim hats are compulsory and competitors may purchase hats at registration. Wetsuits are recommended; shortie suits are permitted and wetsuit rules follow British Triathlon guidance. Chip timing is used. There are portable toilets near the transition area but no indoor changing facilities.
Race age is determined by the competitor’s age on 31 December 2026. Relay teams are accepted when all members are in the same age category. Competitors may elect to finish at the transition area after the swim instead of completing the run. Preliminary and official results are published after the event.
Entry categories include youth and adult distances, with an early-bird discount period. A British Triathlon race pass applies where required. Parking is available at the lake car park with additional parking a short walk away at Forge Mill car park.

- Tri Start (8 yrs): swim 50 m, run 600 m
- Tri Star 1 (9-10 yrs): swim 150 m, run 1,200 m
- Tri Star 2 (11-12 yrs): swim 250 m, run 1,800 m
- Tri Star 3 (13-14 yrs): swim 300 m, run 2,400 m
- Youth (15-16 yrs): swim 400 m, run 4 km
- Adults (17+): swim 400 m, run 4 km
- Adults (17+): swim 750 m, run 5 km
- Scootathon (2-7 yrs): scoot 25 m
