Sam Costa Half and Quarter Marathons, Carmel, IN
The Sam Costa Half and Quarter Marathons are presented by Indy Runners and Walkers and are identified as the oldest race in Indiana (Est. 1970). The 55th running is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2026, with both races based at Northview Church in Carmel, Indiana.
The event offers the following distances:
- Half marathon (13.109 miles)
- Quarter marathon (6.554 miles)
Course routes were updated in 2024 to improve safety and reduce the number of turns. The start and finish lines are located in the church parking lot, and pre-race and post-race activities take place in the Student Center at the southwest corner of the west parking lot.
Registration options include an optional finisher medal that can be added through March 15, 2026. Current members of Indy Runners and Walkers who register by March 17, 2026 receive a $10 discount. Time limits are set at 3 hours for each race, with equivalent paces of 13:45 minutes per mile for the half and 27:28 minutes per mile for the quarter.
Awards include top three male and female finishers in open and master divisions, plus male and female age group awards. Age groups are five year spans from 19 and under through 75 and over; award distribution will be roughly proportional to entries received by March 5, 2026.
