Salty Santa 5K : Hutchinson
The Salty Santa 5K is a holiday-themed 5-kilometer fun run and walk held December 5, 2026, at Strataca, the Kansas Underground Salt Museum, located at 3650 E. Ave G., Hutchinson, KS 67501. The course runs 650 feet underground through the salt mine tunnels.
Registration opens June 13, 2026, and closes August 5, 2026. The registration fee is $45.00; taxes and processing fees are added to the race cost. Participants select a starting heat during registration; each heat is limited to 30 participants. The first 150 registered participants receive a commemorative T-shirt and finisher medal. After that limit, medals and some T-shirt sizes may no longer be available; shirts and medals are distributed at check-in on a first-come, first-served basis.
Safety and equipment rules are stated: all participants must bring a helmet (bike helmets are acceptable) and a flashlight or headlamp; helmets will be inspected before entry. No participants under age 8 are allowed; ages 8–18 must be accompanied by an adult. Clocks will be available at the start and finish for self-timing. Packet pickup is required before a heat; arrivals should allow time for check-in as late arrivals may be moved to the final available heat. Participants remaining on the course past the event cutoff may be transported to the finish area.
