Salty Santa 5K
The Salty Santa 5K takes place December 5, 2026 at Strataca, the Kansas Underground Salt Museum in Hutchinson, Kansas. The course runs about 650 feet below ground through dimly lit tunnels of an active salt mine.
Participants must bring a helmet and a flashlight or headlamp; helmets are required and will be inspected before entry. Costumes and holiday attire are encouraged. The event is run in scheduled heats, with each heat limited to 30 participants and starting-heat selection handled during registration. The run is organized as a fun run with clocks available at the start and finish for self timing.
Age rules apply: no one under eight may enter, and participants aged eight to 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Race packets are distributed on site and late arrivals may be moved to the final available heat.
Registration opens June 13, 2026 and closes August 5, 2026. The registration fee is $45.00; taxes and processing fees apply. All proceeds benefit Strataca Kansas Underground Salt Museum. All purchases are final. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
