Saltash Running Festival events
The Saltash Half Marathon, a 5K plus race and a Fun Run are organised as road running events under UK Athletics rules. All runs start and finish at Longstone Park, Saltash, PL12 6DW. The races form part of the Saltash May Fair weekend; family entertainment, refreshments and activities will be available in Longstone Park during the day.
Distances:
- Half Marathon 13.1 miles
- 5K plus 5.134 kilometres
- Fun Run 1.8 miles
The Half Marathon is limited to 200 runners and has a cut off time of three hours; the 5K plus is limited to 100 runners. Entry fees differ for UKA affiliated and unaffiliated athletes. Quality medals are awarded to finishers in each race and prizes are given to overall winners. Minimum ages are 17 for the Half Marathon and 11 for the 5K plus. There is no entry limit for the Fun Run; runners under nine years must be accompanied by an adult. Wheelchairs and buggies are permitted in the Fun Run and should start from the rear, while organisers note the course is hilly and not suitable for wheelchair athletes in general.
Entries are accepted online only; a stall at the Saltash May Fair handles queries and Fun Run bib collection. Bib numbers and timing chips for the Half Marathon and 5K plus are issued from the event marquee on the day. Callington Road will be closed between Church Road and Glebe Avenue for the start of each run. Baggage stowage is provided and monitored but items are left at the owner’s risk.
Marshals cannot stop traffic so runners must follow marshal and police instructions. The use of personal audio devices is prohibited and will lead to disqualification. Dogs, wheeled carriages and cycles are not permitted in the competitive races. Race numbers must be pinned to the front and medical details entered on the rear. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
