Salt Lake Foothills Trail Races
Salt Lake Foothills Trail Races is scheduled for May 22, 2027 in Salt Lake City, Utah and is organized by Open Range Races. The event takes place in the foothills above the city and offers several trail race distances from a short family loop to a 50 mile ultramarathon.
Distances
- 50 Miles : 10,300' gain; one pacer allowed per runner; final cutoff 9:00pm.
- 50K : mountain 50K course across foothill terrain; limited shade.
- Half Marathon : point-to-point course with about 2,800' of climbing.
- 10K : climbs roughly 1,200' with extended trail views.
- 2K Family Loop : short introduction to trail running for runners of varying ages and abilities.
Logistics and race details include GPX files for all courses and a recommendation that runners carry a navigation-capable device. There are no drop bags; the emigration aid station at the start/finish allows access to parked vehicles and crews may bring items there. Aid stations will offer water, Nuun hydration, basic snacks, and standard ultra aid station food; participants with specific nutritional needs are advised to carry their own fuel. Required kit includes a 2.5L bladder or bladders and a headlamp, with a full kit list to be provided in the race packet. Medals will be awarded to all finishers. Bib pickup is scheduled for Friday, May 29, 2026 at EVO, 660 S 400 W, Salt Lake City. Registration opens August 6, 2026 and closes May 14, 2027 at 11:59pm MT.
