Salt Lake Foothills Trail Races
Salt Lake Foothills Trail Races take place in Salt Lake City, UT, with start/finish areas near the Hogle Zoo BoSho trailhead and a half marathon start at Ensign Peak. The event offers multiple trail distances across the local foothills and specifies elevation gain and cutoff times for each distance.
Race distances and key figures:
- 50 Miles - ~10,300' gain, 15 hour cutoff
- 50K - ~6,200' gain, 11 hour cutoff
- Half Marathon - ~2,800' gain, 9 hour cutoff
- 10K - ~1,350' gain, 7.5 hour cutoff
The 10K climbs about 1,200' across 10K. The half marathon is a point-to-point course with roughly 2,800' of climbing. The 50K and 50 Mile courses use foothill terrain and include significant climbing; the 50 Mile route is new for 2026. Runners are responsible for reaching their start lines.
Event logistics include a bib pick up on Friday, 29 May 2026 at EVO (660 W 400 W) from 3:30pm to 7:30pm. Registration closes Sun, May 24 at 11:59pm MT. Required kit includes, at minimum, 2.5L bladder(s) and a headlamp; a full list will be provided in the race packet.
Competition and support notes: podium awards go to the top three men and women at all distances. A $3,000 prize purse funds placements in the 50K and half marathon; there is no prize purse for the 50 Mile or 10K. For the 50 Mile, one pacer per runner is allowed; pacers may join at Bonneville Aid Station when runners pass at approximately mile 32 or mile 40. Spectators and crew may access aid stations but parking is not guaranteed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
