Salt Lake Foothills Trail Races
The Salt Lake Foothills Trail Races are scheduled for May 2027 and organized by Open Range Races. The event takes place in the foothills above Salt Lake City with the main venue and start/finish near Hogle Zoo at 2600 Sunnyside Ave.
Distances include:
- 50 Miles
- 50K
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 2K Family Loop
Courses use winding singletrack and offer expansive mountain and city views. The 10K climbs about 1,200 feet. The Half Marathon is a point to point with roughly 2,800 feet of climbing and starts near Ensign Peak, finishing at the main venue. The 50 Mile course was revised for 2026 and includes approximately 10,300 feet of gain. The 50K follows mountain terrain typical of big mountain races.
Logistics and rules noted by the organizer include availability of GPX files and a recommendation to carry a device capable of following GPX navigation, no drop bags for any distance, and required kit that includes 2.5 L bladder(s) and a headlamp. Aid stations will offer water, Nuun hydration, basic snacks, and conventional ultra aid station food. Poles are permitted. Dogs are not allowed on course. Pacers may join 50 Mile runners under the stated conditions. The race organization may alter, delay, or cancel the event for safety in severe weather.
