Salt Flats Endurance Runs
Salt Flats Endurance Runs takes place in Wendover, UT, centered at the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway. The event features multiple distances that start and finish at the same location on the salt flats. Courses return to the start where salt is available for electrolyte replacement.
Distances offered:
- 100 Mile
- 100K (106.5K)
- 50 Mile
- 50K
- 10K
- 5K
All ultra distances follow the same salt flats section used for land speed records. Runners traverse roughly 13 miles of salt, then about three miles of mud flats, before reaching the "Islands," mountain peaks that rise from the salt. The 50K is an out and back to the No Post aid station at 15.5 miles. The 50 Mile, 100K and 100 Mile courses include rolling hills and multiple significant climbs, and the 100K and 100 Mile cross briefly into Nevada. Finish cutoffs vary by distance, giving runners up to 10 hours for the 50K, 17 hours for the 50 Mile, 23 hours for the 100K, and 36 hours for the 100 Mile.
A 5K was added in 2021 and a 10K in 2026; both use a simple out and back format and participants receive a tech shirt and bib. Due to BLM regulations, the event may use pre-approved salt adjacent alternate courses when the salt is wet; aid station distances do not change. Awards are given to the top three men and top three women overall for each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
