Salt Flats Endurance Runs : Wendover, UT
Salt Flats Endurance Runs offers multiple distance events on and near the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway. The courses use the same salt sections known for land-speed records and include stretches across salt, mud flats, and sections called the "Islands," where mountain peaks rise from the salt surface.
The event includes the following distances:
- 100 mile
- 100K (106.5K)
- 50 mile
- 50K
- 10K fun run
- 5K fun run
For the 50K the course is an out-and-back to the No Post Aid Station at 15.5 miles, producing an exact 50K distance. The longer distances continue over rolling hills and include multiple significant climbs; the 100K and 100 mile courses cross into Nevada along a historic route. All courses finish back at the start area.
Organizers maintain pre-approved alternate courses that run adjacent to the salt when BLM regulations prevent running on wet salt. Aid station locations and distances remain the same when an alternate course is used. The event awards the top three men and top three women overall for each distance. The 5K and 10K fun runs use a simple out-and-back layout; participants receive a tech shirt and bib number. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
