Salt Flats Endurance Runs
Salt Flats Endurance Runs takes place at the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway near Wendover, UT. The event offers multiple distances and finishes back at the start area on the salt surface.
Distances include:
- 100 Miler
- 100K
- 50 Miler
- 50K
- 10K
- 5K
Courses begin on the salt flats used for land speed records. Runners cross roughly thirteen miles of salt followed by three miles of mud flats before reaching mountain peaks described as "Islands" that rise from the salt. The 50K route goes out to the No Post Aid Station at 15.5 miles and then reverses for an exact 50K. Longer routes continue over rolling terrain and include multiple significant climbs. The 100 mile course crosses into Nevada along part of the route. All events return to the start area.
Time cutoffs are provided for each distance, ranging from ten hours for the 50K up to thirty six hours for the 100 mile distance. Awards are given to the top three men and top three women overall in each distance.
A 5K fun run was introduced in 2021 and a 10K was added for 2026. These short out and back races use a simple course, include a tech shirt and bib for participants, and will feature finishers awards in 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
