Salt Flats Endurance Runs
Salt Flats Endurance Runs takes place April 30 - May 1, 2027 at the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway near Wendover, Utah. The event offers multiple distances across a course on the salt flats and adjacent terrain.
- 100 Miler
- 100K (listed as 106.5K)
- 50 Miler
- 50K
- 10K
- 5K
All courses begin at the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway and use sections of the same salt surface known for land-speed runs. Runners traverse about 13 miles of salt followed by roughly three miles of mud flats before reaching the "Islands," mountain peaks that rise from the salt. The 50K uses the No Post Aid Station at 15.5 miles and then reverses for an exact 50K. The longer distances include rolling hills and multiple climbs, and the 100K and 100 Miler include a crossing into Nevada at a historic Donner-Reed Party route. All races finish back at the start area, where salt is available at the finish.
Award categories list the top three overall men and top three overall women for each distance. A 5K was added in 2021 and a 10K was added in 2026; both are simple out-and-back fun runs with tech shirts and bib numbers provided. Bib pickup is scheduled on the day of the fun runs.
Because salt conditions can change quickly, BLM regulations require an alternate salt-adjacent course if the salt is wet. Pre-approved alternate routes keep aid station distances the same and may move sections off the salt. Runners are advised to have shoes suitable for salt, mud flats, hills and road.
