Salt Flats Endurance Runs
Salt Flats Endurance Runs takes place at the Bonneville Salt Flats Speedway near Wendover, Utah. The event offers multiple race distances.
- 100 Miler
- 100K (listed as 106.5K)
- 50 Miler
- 50K
- 10K fun run
- 5K fun run
The courses run across the salt flats used for land-speed records and include sections of salt surface, a stretch of mud-flats after about 13 miles, and the "Islands" where mountain peaks rise from the salt. The 50K is an out-and-back that reaches the No Post Aid Station at about 15.5 miles before returning to the finish. The 50 Miler, 100K and 100 Miler continue on rolling terrain with two to four notable climbs; the 100K and 100 Miler cross briefly into Nevada. All courses finish back at the start location.
Organizers maintain alternate "salt adjacent" courses when the salt is wet in order to comply with BLM regulations. These alternate courses keep the same aid station distances. The surface can vary quickly, so footwear suitable for salt, mud and road is recommended.
Awards are given for the top three men and top three women in each distance. The event also includes simple out-and-back 5K and 10K fun runs that provide tech shirts and bibs to participants. Registration closes April 23. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
