Rut Run 5K, Estes Park

The Rut Run is a point to point 5K (3.1 miles) held in Estes Park during the fall season as part of Elk Fest. The course starts on Fish Hatchery Road on the Fall River Trail and finishes at Performance Park along the River Walk. The route is primarily downhill and passes river views, stands of aspen, and the historic Elkhorn Lodge. A short section includes single-track dirt (about 100 yards); other surfaces are multi-use trail and quiet rolling street.

Shuttle transportation is provided from the Estes Park Visitor Center to the start area. Restrooms are available at the Visitor Center and at the Estes Park United Methodist Church. Race day packet pick-up and on-site registration occur at the Visitor Center.

The event welcomes runners, walkers, strollers, and group friendly pets. Entry fees are listed by category: Adults, Youth (14 and under), and Seniors (60 and up), with an added fee for same-day registration and an optional fee to purchase a long-sleeved race shirt. Each participant receives one beer token valid for Elk Fest activities.

Awards are given for overall and masters placements and across age-group categories ranging from 13 and under through 80 and older.
