Rushmoor Wellesley 10k and Gurkha VC 5k
The Rushmoor Wellesley races are mixed trail events held on Sunday 11th October 2026 that use sections of the Basingstoke Canal towpath and paths in Wellesley Woodlands. The woodlands received a Green Flag Award in 2022. Courses run mostly on well maintained paths, with the 10 km including a short challenging section through the trees and a unique military bridge. Runners pass canal-side scenery and may see local wildlife and autumn leaves.
The courses are clearly signposted and marshalled. The event starts on the polo fields and finishes in the Army Athletics Stadium. Chip timing is used to record accurate times. Finishers in the stadium may ring a PB bell if they achieve a personal best. The entry fee includes a bespoke double-sided collectable medal awarded at the finish.
Participant ages are restricted: the 10 km is for age 16 and over; the 5 km is for age 14 and over unaccompanied or 11 and over when accompanied by an adult; the 2 km fun run is for age 5 and over, with those under 9 accompanied by an adult. Additional facilities listed by the organiser include an ultra wide start line, baggage drop, free parking for up to 300 cars with parking marshals, and a free pre-race club run organised by Blackwater Valley Runners.
