Running to a Sweet Beet 5K
Running to a Sweet Beet 5K is a charity road race held in conjunction with Renville Sugar Beet Days in Renville, Minnesota. The event is based at the Renville Community Center, 221 Main Street North. The Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative is the sole sponsor and underwrites event costs so 100% of registration fees are donated to support the fight against cancer. Proceeds benefit Renville County Walk in the Park; since 2010 the event has raised and donated $86,557.
The 5K course is chip timed and is run as a double loop on the majority of city streets with a short section on gravel. The event is held rain or shine.
Registration opens April 17. Early registration fee is $30 and registrations received on or before June 1 are guaranteed a commemorative shirt. After June 1 fees increase to the following tiers: Age 4 and Under free; Age 5-10 $20; Age 11-18 $25; Age 19+ $35. No team option is offered in 2026. Online registration closes June 2; after that time day of registration is available at the Renville Community Center with payment by cash or check only.
Age divisions for 2026 include 10 & Under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, and 85 & Over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
