Running Of The Steers 2026

The Running Of The Steers is a family-oriented sports event held in Kingston, Nova Scotia. The gathering celebrates the longest-running BBQ of its kind in North America. Located at the Aurora Inn on Main Street, the event is hosted by the Kingston Farmers Market as a fundraiser, with organizational support from Core Endurance.

Participants and spectators are encouraged to wear red and white clothing and bring cowbells to contribute to the event atmosphere. The mascot, Kingsley the Steer, is present for family meet-and-greets during the festivities.

The event features three distinct distances tailored to different age groups:

  • 200 m (Baby Bulls) for children aged 0-5.
  • 1 km (Miniature Matadors) for children aged 6-11.
  • 5 km (Running Of The Steers) for participants aged 12 and older.

Registration is free for children aged 11 and under. A registration fee applies for the 5 km event for those aged 12 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
