Run or Hike for Palestine - fundraiser
The event is a charity walk, hike, or trail run held at Koedoeslaagte Trail Park in the Vredefort Dome UNESCO area near Parys. It is organised by Imagine all the People with the Olive Tree Amplifiers NWU Student Society. All profits are donated to Gift of the Givers to support humanitarian aid in Palestine. Medals are awarded to all finishers.
Available route options:
- 11 km Koedoe Trail, 430 m elevation, riverfront and mountain sections, kloof hiking.
- 5 km Likkewaan/Rooikat Trail, 151 m elevation, lower riverfront, one climb, shaded sections.
The 5 km route passes features named in the park such as the Donga, the Grootklip, Oom Hansie se Huis, the Ball Bearing Climb, the rapids, Die Spookhuis, and the Otter Trail. The 11 km route includes riverfront, flat lands and mountain views, plus a viewpoint of the Vredefort Dome and the Skilpad Trail kloof section.
Entry fees and donation breakdown are published for adults and children for each distance. Late or race-day entries incur an additional fee. The venue is about 12 km from Parys on the North West bank of the Vaal River and offers amenities including a kiosk, a coffee cart, picnic benches, a swimming pool, and toilets.
