The Run With Your Heart Alpena event takes place in Alpena, Michigan. The start and finish location is the Northern Lights Arena's North Parking Lot on Woodward Avenue.

Participants aged 12 and under can register for these events for free, sponsored by RUN UNITED.
Course and Features
The course includes both trail and paved sections. The first 20 finishers of the 5k receive custom-designed medals.
Registration and Amenities
Standard online registration costs $25 per event. Same-day registration is available at the event for $35, payable in cash or by check made payable to United Way of NE MI - Run United. T-shirts are available for pre-order only for $20, with a deadline for purchase. A portion of each t-shirt sale ($5) is donated to Children's Hospital. Participants can also purchase t-shirts online for shipment. A new t-shirt design is created each year to commemorate the race.
Purpose and Charitable Cause
This event honors the memory of Ryan Marie Szymanski, who passed away from congenital heart defects. All proceeds from the race go to the pediatric cardiology unit at Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
