Run With Shears - Indianapolis

Run With Shears is an annual fundraising running event held on the Indiana State Museum Lawn in Indianapolis. The eighth edition supports the creation of an addition to a memorial next to the Indiana Statehouse for emergency medical technicians and paramedics who died in the line of duty. The event is hosted by the Indiana EMS Association and is used to raise funds and to coincide with National EMS Week.

The event offers an on-course 5k along the Downtown Canal in the heart of Indianapolis. The 5k course is described as fast and flat and is USATF sanctioned. The event program includes elite awards, finisher medals, participant shirts, custom bibs, and Mylaps bibtag timing for 5k athletes. Organizers note the race is one of the only EMS 5k races in the United States and typically draws hundreds of runners, walkers, and EMS professionals from across the Midwest. Children and strollers are permitted.

A Kid's 911 Yard Dash is offered for ages 12 and under; children who participate receive a medal. A virtual 5k option is also available. Entry fees vary by event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
