Event Overview
The eighth annual Run With Shears takes place in Indianapolis, hosted by the Indiana EMS Association. This event serves as the kickoff for National EMS Week and functions as a fundraiser to support the creation of a memorial for emergency medical technicians and paramedics who lost their lives in the line of duty. This memorial will be an addition to the existing site next to the Indiana Statehouse that honors firefighters and police officers.
Course and Participation
The event features a USATF sanctioned course that is flat and fast, following the Downtown Canal in the heart of Indianapolis. Participation is open to emergency medical services professionals, competitive runners, and walkers. The organizers also permit strollers and children to participate. Participants receive medals and shirts, and elite awards are presented.
