Event overview
Run Wild 5K is held Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6, 2026 at the Fort Wayne Zoo in Fort Wayne, IN. The event offers the 5K distance with separate race slots on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Entry for each 5K is listed at $40. The course runs on multiple surfaces: concrete, wooden bridges, grass and gravel, and travels through zoo areas described as Africa, Australia, Stingray Bay and past the Peacock Cafe. Participants receive a commemorative race shirt, a timing bib and a finisher medal. Proceeds benefit the Fort Wayne Zoo.
Logistics and race rules
Participants must enter the zoo on race day via the Sherman Blvd entrance; the Goshen Road entrance will be closed. Zoo paths are narrow in some areas, so there is a participant cap and there will be no day-of registration. Stroller rules: stroller riders who should receive a shirt and timing bib must be registered separately; those who do not want a shirt and bib do not need separate registration. Spectators are allowed in certain front-gate areas during the race but not beyond barriers. 5K participants may use their race bib for free reentry into the zoo on Saturday following the Saturday 5K. Runners under age 10 should be accompanied by an adult who is also running. Dogs and pets are not permitted; service animals must check in at zoo guest services prior to the race.
