Run West Trail Run
Run West is a coastal trail running event along South Africa’s West Coast that connects the communities of Strandfontein, Papendorp and Doringbaai. The event is based at Strandfontein Campsite and features beach running, coastal trails and rugged cliffside sections that pass through wetlands and coastal fynbos.
Distances:
- Olifants 21 km route from Olifants River mouth to Atlantic via wetlands and 'swaar sand'
- Euphorbia 10 km scenic route through coastal fynbos, seaside coves and rugged cliffs
- Guppy Gallop 2 km kids run hosted by NEST and Run West on coastal trails
Age and entry conditions are specified for each distance: the 21 km requires participants to be 18 years or older, the 10 km requires 16 years or older, and the kids run is for children aged 6 to 14 who must be accompanied by an adult with a maximum of two children per adult. All participants must be officially registered.
Run West operates as a non profit initiative with a focus on environmental awareness, community upliftment and education through NEST. Participants accept and assume the risks of trail running, must carry mandatory gear, may need to provide medical information or certificates, and must accept medical team decisions. The organisers reserve the right to use names, results and images for legitimate purposes and to cancel or postpone the event under circumstances beyond their control.
