About the race
Run West Trail Run is a coastal trail running event along South Africa’s West Coast linking Strandfontein, Papendorp, and Doringbaai. The routes run across beaches, coastal trails and cliff edges and pass through wetlands, coastal fynbos and seaside coves.
The event is organised as a non-profit initiative in partnership with NEST, with stated aims of environmental awareness, community upliftment and education. Entry is by registration and the organisers require participants to agree to indemnity, medical and event rules.
Distances
- 21 km Olifants route: from the Olifants River mouth to the Atlantic coastline, includes wetlands, heavy sand and cliff sections. All entrants must be 18 years or older.
- 10 km Euphorbia route: coastal fynbos, coves and cliffs. Entrants must be 16 years or older.
- 2 km Guppy Gallop kids run: nature-focused run for children aged 6 to 14, each child must be accompanied by an adult, maximum two children per adult.
The event materials note that participants assume risks associated with trail running, that medical support may be limited in remote sections, and that organisers may cancel or postpone the event for safety or force majeure reasons.
