Run to the Rock : 31st Annual (September 12, 2026)
The Run to the Rock is a multi-distance road race hosted in Marshfield, Massachusetts. All races start and finish at Furnace Brook Middle School, 500 Furnace Street. Distances offered include:
- 5K
- 10K
- 1/2 Marathon
The 5K is primarily a flat out-and-back around the school and nearby neighborhood. The 10K travels toward the Pine Street area through a low-traffic neighborhood with a few hills. The half marathon goes into North Marshfield and reaches the North River along Union Street.
Race services, rules and logistics
Registration is online only; no paper registration is available at pre-race pickup or on race day. Bib pickup is provided at the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield and at Furnace Brook Middle School on scheduled days before the race. There is a stated course time limit of three hours for the half marathon; participants finishing within that limit receive an official time and services are limited for those finishing after the limit. Minimum age to participate is 13.
Hydration stations are provided on each course (one near the halfway point of the 5K; multiple stops on the 10K and half marathon). Some half marathon stations offer Gatorade. Restrooms are available at the start and finish and at multiple points on the half marathon course. Parking is at Furnace Brook Middle School with overflow at the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield. Dogs are not allowed on the course; trained service animals require prior notice.
Awards, shirts and charity
Overall top three male and female finishers are recognized for each distance. The 5K and 10K award first-place male and female in age groups: 10 & under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+. The half marathon awards the top three male and female in age groups: 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+. Race shirts have a registration deadline; shirts are distributed at the event and are not mailed. The event supports local Boys & Girls Clubs.
