Run the Runway 2026
Run the Runway offers a unique opportunity to race on an actual aviation runway in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Now in its sixth year, the event features the course in a reverse direction to provide a different perspective for returning participants. The route is characterized as flat, fast, and wide, designed to accommodate runners and walkers safely.
The course layout takes participants through areas highlighting Canadian aviation and industrial history, including the tour road of the Reynolds-Alberta Museum. The terrain consists of approximately 70% paved surfaces and 30% packed gravel. This event is managed entirely by volunteers, with proceeds supporting the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation.
Available distances include:
- 5 km: A flat route that includes exclusive event swag for participants.
- 500 m Kids' Run: A fully paved course designed for younger participants.
The event is held regardless of weather conditions. For convenience, race day package pickup is available on-site. Additional amenities such as food trucks are also present at the venue to serve participants and attendees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
