Run the River (Wilkes Barre)
Run the River is the third annual NEPA Run the River Race, a water themed community event held in Wilkes Barre on August 1, 2026. The race is part of NEPA Summer in the City’s Day Downtown Festival and follows a course around Kirby Park. Volunteers will staff the course and provide water stations consistent with the event theme. Participants may choose a blue shirt to receive water on course or a white shirt to opt out of water.
The event includes timed awards by age group and overall awards for the top three male and female finishers. A team competition is offered for sponsors, businesses, clubs and teams; teams may be created or joined during registration and a team trophy will be awarded to the team with the fastest average time among their top five finishers.
Registration opens June 4, 2026. Pricing listed for participant registration is $25 before July 6, $30 from July 6 through July 31, and $35 on August 1. All proceeds from the event will support CASA of Wyoming Valley.
