Run The Ridge Trail Race

The Run The Ridge Trail Race takes place in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, at the Bill Monroe Homeplace. Participants run through a scenic landscape that includes dirt roads and overlooks associated with bluegrass music history. The course features steep inclines and declines as runners navigate to the top of the ridge and back down.

The event offers three distinct distances:

  • 5K: One complete loop of the Jerusalem Ridge Trail.
  • 10K: Two complete loops of the Jerusalem Ridge Trail.
  • 25K: Five complete loops of the Jerusalem Ridge Trail.

A runners aid station is located at the start-finish line. For the longest distance, a course cutoff time of 4 hours and 30 minutes is enforced. All finishers receive a commemorative medal, and awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in each distance category.

The race environment includes live bluegrass music performed along the course and at the Bill Monroe Homeplace. Participants have access to primitive camping on-site for the weekend, with options for electrical hookups for a fee. The event coincides with local cultural gatherings such as campfire jam sessions and a performance on the Homeplace porch. Participants who register by September 25, 2026, receive a race t-shirt.
