Run the Rapids 5k Walk/Run
Run the Rapids is an annual community event taking place in Wisconsin Rapids. The course is situated along the Wisconsin River and features a combination of paved winding trails and smooth roads. This event serves as a fundraiser to support child abuse prevention efforts and youth development, with proceeds benefiting the Wood County Human Services Department and Assumption Catholic Schools.
The event offers the following participation categories:
- 5k Run/Walk (Open to all ages)
- Kids Dash (Open to children ages 5 and under)
The route is recognized as a popular race path in Central Wisconsin. Registered participants in the 5k distance receive a long-sleeved commemorative event shirt and a drawstring bag. Drawstring bags are limited to the first 200 registrants.
Awards are presented to the first-place male and female overall finishers. Additionally, commemorative plaques or awards are providing to the top three male and female finishers in various age categories, ranging from 13 and under to 70 and over. Groups can participate through the Corporate Team Challenge or the Family and Friends Team Challenge, with trophies awarded to teams with the highest number of participants. Post-race activities include the presentation of awards and refreshments at the Centralia Center. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
