About the race
Run the Plains Moree 2026 is a regional running festival held across Moree with Friday evening community sprints in the CBD and a full programme of distance events the following day at Lyle Houlahan Park, 67 Alice Street.
Friday evening features short, timed and untimed 200 m and 1 km events through the Moree main street, including age-grouped Kamilaroi Kiddos Dash races, an all-ages Community K, and the Kamilaroi K with categories for wheelchair/accessible/prams and multiple age groups. Balo Street will be closed to traffic between Gwydir and Albert streets for the evening event and entrants are asked to marshal ahead of their races. Entries for Friday close at 5pm on 25 September.
Saturday’s programme runs from the Visitor Information Centre precinct and uses predominantly concrete riverbank pathways with about 500 m of fine gravel. On-course support includes water, electrolytes, energy gels, first aid and toilets; finish-line recovery services and food vendors will be on site. Presentations for Saturday events are held in the race precinct after the last race. Short-term road closures will apply on Albert Street and Bank Street during Saturday morning.

Age restrictions and cash prize categories vary by event. Key registration dates include an early bird cutoff and a personalised bib cutoff; some events allow on-the-day registration up to 30 minutes before marshalling.
