Run the Plains Moree 2026
Run the Plains Moree is a two-day regional running festival held in Moree, NSW on 25 and 26 September 2026. Tourism Moree and Little Athletics Moree present community and competitive events across the Moree CBD and the Visitor Information Centre precinct at Lyle Houlahan Park, 67 Alice Street.
Friday night features short community races in the Moree CBD, including 200 metre kids dashes, a 1 kilometre Community K with proceeds donated to Gwydir Industries, and the Kamilaroi K sprint with age and accessibility categories. All 1 kilometre events begin and end at the intersection of Balo and Heber Streets; the 200 metre Kiddos Dash starts at the pedestrian crossing near Pitman Deakin. Entrants for the kids dash and Community K receive a race bib and official time; those events do not award cash prizes. Team entries are optional for Friday, with awards across school, village, corporate and community group categories.
Saturday’s events run along pathways beside the Mehi River. Courses are predominately concrete and suitable for prams, with about 500 metres of fine gravel. On course and finish precinct services include water, electrolytes, energy gels, first aid, toilets, mobile contrast therapy and recovery nutrition, and food and drink vendors. Cash prizes apply for age category place getters on Saturday. Short-term road closures will be in place on parts of Albert Street and Bank Street for safety.
Key registration dates include an early bird period ending 31 August and a personalised bib cutoff on 17 September. Race bib collection is available on the Friday in the CBD and on the Saturday within the race precinct at Lyle Houlahan Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
