Run The Maine is a multi-distance running event held at Camp Reserve, Castlemaine VIC. The event includes a unique point-to-point Half Marathon that uses a steam train to transport participants to the start, a 10 km forest loop, and a 5 km out-and-back in the town’s botanical gardens.
Course details:
- Half Marathon: Maldon to Castlemaine, follows historic Goldfields Steam Train route on fire trails and paths.
- 10 km: Walmer Forest Loop, climbs out of Castlemaine and follows creeks before joining the 21 km route.
- 5 km: Botanical Gardens Return, an almost flat out-and-back through Castlemaine’s historic botanical gardens.
The terrain ranges from dense woodland to open paddocks and well-made fire trails. Multiple price tiers are listed for entries, including super early bird, early bird, and standard rates, with concession and under-16 options noted.
