Run the Lighthouse Wilsons Prom
Run the Lighthouse is a trails event held at Tidal River, Wilsons Promontory, VIC 3960. The event offers multiple course distances:
- 6 km
- 21 km
- 42 km
- 50 km
- 75 km
The courses use tracks and coastal sections around the prom. The 6 km course crosses Tidal River and follows the Tidal Lookout Track back to the camping ground. The 21 km follows the coast then turns inland to the Telegraph Track junction before returning. The 42 km follows the 21 km route and climbs Mt Oberon. The 50 km goes to the lighthouse and returns via Waterloo Bay and the southern tip of the prom. The 75 km follows the 50 km route and includes a climb of Mt Oberon.
The event uses unmarked courses and requires navigation using a map or mobile app. Participants must carry mandatory gear; incomplete gear results in no race start. The 50 km and 75 km distances require a level of prior experience to ensure safe return.
The event is presented as a family friendly weekend with a range of options around Tidal River. Accommodation inside the park is limited and a waitlist is used for cancellations. Trailsplus donates one dollar per participant to Canteen and has surpassed donations of eighty thousand dollars; in 2025 there were 111 competitors and a total donation of one hundred and thirty six dollars to Canteen.
