Run ‘Round the Mountain : Open 5K and 10K
The Massachusetts Senior Games present an open 5K and 10K road race in South Deerfield, MA on November 11, 2026. The event is open to all ages and is a 2027 National Senior Games qualifying event for athletes age 50 and over. US veterans may enter for free. Walkers have a separate timed category with bibs and the same route and fee structure as the 5K.
Distances
- 5K out-and-back route, flat, same start as the 10K.
- 10K clockwise loop around Sugarloaf Mountain base with climbs and river views.
Both races begin at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church on Sugarloaf Street. The 10K climbs Hillside Road, descends to River Road, and returns to Sugarloaf Street to form a loop. Water stations are placed at approximately 1.5 miles, 2.2 miles, and at the finish.
Registration fees list online and day-of prices: the 10K is $30 online and $40 day-of; the 5K race and 5K walk are $25 online and $35 day-of. Day-of registration carries an additional fee compared with online registration. Race check-in includes bib and T-shirt pickup at the church. Awards include overall male and female winners plus age group awards; age group medals for 50+ are given in five-year increments and must be collected in person.
