Run ‘Round the Mountain Open 5K / 10K
This event, presented by the Massachusetts Senior Games, offers open 5K and 10K road race options in South Deerfield, MA on November 11, 2026. Both distances allow running or walking and are open to all ages. The event also serves as a 2027 National Senior Games qualifying event for athletes 50 and older; completing either distance qualifies a participant for both 5K and 10K at the National Games.
Both races start at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church on Sugarloaf Street and proceed onto North Main. The 5K is an out-and-back and is described as a flat course. The 10K is a clockwise loop around the base of DCR’s Sugarloaf Mountain with climbs on Hillside Road, a descent to River Road, and views of the mountain and river. Water stations are provided; listed locations include mile markers 1.5 and 2.2 for both races, plus a table at the finish.
Fees differ for online versus day-of registration: online fees are $30 for the 10K and $25 for the 5K or 5K walk; day-of fees add $10 ($40 for the 10K, $35 for the 5K or 5K walk). Day-of payments are cash or check to MASG; Venmo is not available for day-of registration. US veterans may participate for free. Walkers are timed, receive bibs, and are eligible for medals.
Awards include overall male and female and age-group prizes, with five-year age divisions for those 50 and older; recipients must be present to receive awards. All participants receive a MASG unisex shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
