Run Rome The Marathon 2026
Run Rome The Marathon is an athletic event held in the Italian capital that includes several running distances and formats. The primary event is a full marathon covering the standard distance.
- 42.195 km
The marathon course starts at the Fori Imperiali with the Colosseum as a backdrop. Participants pass through several historic locations, including Piazza Venezia, the Vittoriano, and the Circus Maximus. The route runs along the Tevere river and leads runners past Castel Sant’Angelo and toward Viale della Conciliazione, with views of St. Peter’s Basilica.
In addition to the main marathon, the event features alternate participation options:
- Run4Rome Relay: A team-based relay race for four people covering the full marathon distance. Each member completes a section: 11 km, 12.5 km, 8 km, and 10.695 km.
- Acea Water Fun Run: A 5 km non-competitive run or walk starting at the Fori Imperiali and finishing at the Circus Maximus. This event is open to all ages and does not require a medical certificate.
The event organization provides an Expo Village located near the Circo Massimo metro station. This center serves as a hub for visitors and participants, though bib numbers are not available for collection on the day of the marathon. The event holds ISO 20121 certification for sustainability.
