Run, Ride, Roll Past Paralysis 5K / 1 mile
Neuroworx organizes an inclusive community event that supports people with spinal cord injury, brain injury, and other neurological conditions. The event takes place at Dr. O. Roi Hardy Park and uses the Jordan River Trail for course routing.
The main offering is a 5K loop on the Jordan River Trail. The loop crosses two bridges, first heading north on the east side of the trail and then returning south on the west side to the start. The 5K course will be clearly marked and will include aid stations at 1.5 miles and 2.5 miles. A 10K option for participants using bikes or ski chairs uses two laps of the 5K route.
A shorter 1 mile option is provided on the west side of the Jordan River Trail in an out and back format. Multiple participation formats are included across events: hand cycles, recumbent bikes, two wheel bikes, manual and power wheelchairs, walkers and runners. Strollers are permitted in the 5K run and walk events; dogs are not permitted except for service animals. There are dedicated 1 mile events for children under 12 years old that include running, walking, biking, scootering, and wheelchair participation.
All registration fees are directed to the STEP Fund. The fund provides financial assistance for needs that support therapy and rehabilitation, such as footwear, orthotics, replacement wheelchair parts, transportation, caregiver support, and adaptive or exercise equipment for home use.
